The whale's season in Madagascar - Sainte Marie

Whales, or even "humpback whale Megaptera" have long pectoral fins. They have the particularity to feed in the cold seas and come to breed in the warm seas, as in Sainte-Marie, during the months of July, August, September and October. It is the sanctuary these humpback whales have chosen to mate, to give birth to their babies and begin to educate them. In Malagasy, the whales are called "trozona ', the inhabitants of Sainte-Marie designate them " Zagnaharibe "  which means " Great God". The whales are very respected and protected by the local population.

A touching & unforgettable spectacle

During your holidays in Sainte Marie, in season, you will have the opportunity to observe these whales at sea as impressive. These tremendous mammals of 30 to 40 tonnes and averagely about 17 meters long live in the antarctics where they eat Krill. From April, they begin their long trip of about 6000 Km which leads them to predilected post: Madagascar and Sainte-marie.

The songs and acrobatics of whales

Observe the stunts and songs of humpback whales, or "jubartes," When you're in the tropical seas. Devoid of vocal cords, yet produce harmonious melodies with sounds and syllables that resemble as dialects. The sounds vary depending on the flocks and regions. Amateurs, passionate ones or neophytes, you shall be filled with by the diversity of the fish present in Sainte'Marie's Sea: Blue-spotted trevally, ignobilis jacks, barracudas, Chinese pooches, yellowfin tuna, skipjack tuna, dorado dolphin fish, captains, thazars, groupers, rays, rock fish, not to mention hammerhead sharks or white tip sharks ..
You are allowed to practise any kind of fishing technics according to your mood: trolling offshore, inshore trolling, surfcasting, handlines...
